As part of the Telal Soul – North East Project, CiviTech was entrusted with the specialized design of Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls, bringing to the project our deep expertise in geotechnical and structural engineering. Our role focused on delivering a safe, durable, and cost-effective retaining system that aligns with the project’s topographic and functional requirements.

CiviTech’s approach began with a comprehensive geotechnical evaluation of the site, considering soil characteristics, slope geometry, and external loading conditions. Leveraging our extensive experience and adherence to international standards, our team developed customized design solutions for the MSE walls, addressing both external stability—including sliding, overturning, and bearing capacity—and internal stability, such as reinforcement strength and spacing.

The design process included:

• Careful selection of suitable backfill materials to ensure proper drainage, compaction, and interaction with reinforcement systems.

• Reinforcement layout optimization, utilizing high-quality geosynthetics or metallic strips based on load requirements and wall height.

• Detailed engineering analysis and modeling, ensuring the walls met all geotechnical performance criteria under static and seismic conditions.

• Full compliance with local and international design codes (e.g., FHWA, AASHTO, BS8006), ensuring safety, long-term durability, and regulatory approval.

Each MSE wall in the Telal Soul – North East development was uniquely tailored to fit site-specific constraints, including varying elevation profiles and interface with adjacent structures and utilities. Our design also emphasized constructability and cost-efficiency, providing contractors with practical and clearly documented solutions to ensure smooth implementation on site.

Throughout the project, CiviTech maintained close coordination with the client, construction team, and other stakeholders—offering continuous technical support, design updates, and quality assurance checks.
