Project Overview:

CiviTech was commissioned to support the structural upgrade of the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Pharmaceutical Factory with the objective of enhancing its structural performance and ensuring compliance with seismic safety standards. The project commenced with comprehensive geotechnical investigations to evaluate the site’s subsurface conditions, which served as the foundation for all subsequent structural decisions.

Our scope included the structural design of a new steel floor to expand operational capacity, while maintaining structural integrity across the existing facility. One of the core aspects of this project was the complete retrofitting and strengthening of both steel and concrete elements of the factory. This involved the development of a specialized seismic resistance system designed to improve the building’s ability to withstand earthquake forces without compromising safety or functionality.

CiviTech also prepared detailed shop drawings and provided on-site technical supervision, ensuring that retrofitting works were implemented precisely as designed. The result was a modernized, resilient structure that aligns with both industry standards and the critical operational requirements of a pharmaceutical facility.
